ABOUT ABOUT

Philadelphia is experiencing a rapid increase in gun violence -- a 40% increase since last year and nearly 2,000 shooting deaths or injuries. In fall 2020, Coucilwoman Jamie Gauthier pass a resolution through City Council:

"Calling on Mayor James F. Kenney to declare gun violence a citywide emergency and develop an urgent, unrelenting response to the gun violence epidemic plaguing Black and Brown neighborhoods in Philadelphia, and re-affirming the commitment of the City Council of Philadelphia to continue collaborating with, and supporting the work of, the Mayor, our City agencies, the criminal justice community, and non-governmental partners, to mitigate this deadly epidemic." See the full resolution here.

Mayor Kenney has yet to respond to this resolution. We want to build public pressure through a coordinated campaign.

Please join us on December 7th from 6 -7pm to:

  • Hear directly from Councilwoman Jamie Gauthier about the resolution

  • Ask questions

  • Learn about and provide feedback for our coordinated action planned for the week of December 7th (actions are currently planned to be remote due to COVID-19).

  • Discuss next steps after our action on how we can continue coordinated efforts

Due to COVID-19, all actions will take place virtually. Please RSVP and meeting details will be emailed to you.

Philadelphians are being killed, injured, and live in fear. We need Mayor Kenney to support this resolution.
